Clients complained the shades were a hassle to raise/lower with the side tables and lamps in front, so the room never saw daylight. After a remodel of freshly painted walls, new furniture, rug and drapes, the existing shades didn’t feel soft and sophisticated. The side table lamp lights also cast distracting shadows on the cellular accordion shapes of the shades in the evening/night.

Let the daylight in! 2″ vinyl horizontal blinds were chosen in cream with a linen texture to further soften, brighten and visually enlarge a small bedroom. The 3.5″ craftsman wood valances gives the window a grandeur feel and using a darker stain than the existing trim helps to bring the color of the new furniture up. Most blinds have light gaps between slats (not completely room darkening), but this client sleeps normal hours – a complete blackout window treatment wasn’t a high priority and the drapes can be closed. The effortless function of tilting the blind slats open to let in the daylight is a nice change for clients whose bedroom doubles as an ‘away’ room during the day. There are no views from this room, so the textured slats with the daylight streaming through adds depth and beauty.
