Before
No Window Treatments
Gutted and remodeled, this cabin became a vacation home with a goal to spend quality time with family and friends. Mid-way through construction, consultations began to choose window treatments for the entire home. Situated on a private lot with amazing mountain views, not all windows required coverings.

Our inspiration was to make the large, soaring spaces feel comfortable and cozy. The post-and-beam construction two-story entry with second-story windows visually commanded the space. The homeowners had a sense of style and a good understanding of what they like, which always ends in a home with beautiful personality.
We began the project by tackling the sun problem. Harsh sunlight filled the entire cabin through one second-story window. A motorized Graber Ellington 3% Dusky Moment solar shade corrected the problem by beautifully diffusing the natural light to a comfortable level. Because construction was in progress during the consultation, Biddle Blinds was able to provide electrical guidance to place a custom outlet which eliminated the need to charge lithium batteries. By the touch of a remote, the client can easily adjust a shade that’s completely out of reach.
Existing trim-matching drapery rods were reused and repurposed. Graber Rosemary Slate, a transitional floral fabric, was chosen for the two reverse-pleat drapery pairs that compliment furniture and area rugs. These were dressed on new wood rings for the closely located entry and living room spaces. These working draperies can be manually opened and closed for light control and provide a rich sense of comfort.
For the kitchen, we chose Graber Loft Slate, a transitional leaf fabric that coordinated with the granite counter tops for both the valance and pillows. This valance disguises the outside view of a porch ceiling, and the pillows add style and comfort for the built-in bench seat.
In the master bedroom, Biddle Blinds coordinated the custom hemming of an existing back tab drapery to an appropriate length and rehung the drapery on a new Graber Espresso wood drapery rod to provide visual structure and compliment the room’s original wood accent wall.
Different from the upstairs, the basement guest suite featured white painted window trim. Graber Premium Golden Oak faux wood blinds were chosen to match furniture, warm up the space and relate to the upstairs stained trim. The deep window wells allowed for a 2.5-inch slat which provides a less obstructed view when tilted open. During the consultation, Biddle Blinds suggested an accent wallpapered wall for some texture, which the client beautifully chose and professionally installed.
