Vacation Lodge Before and After of Whole House Window Treatments

Before

No Window Treatments

An upscale vacation lodge was created by reimagining an existing structure sited on premium hunting, fishing and stargazing acreage. Midway through construction, Biddle Blinds began consulting on window treatments for the entire lodge.

After

Graber Natural Shades | Graber Draperies | Select Wood Drapery Rods | Graber Fabric-Wrapped Cornices

Our goal was to add personality, color and warmth to the lodge. The client had a renovating talent and chose a muted, natural color palate used consistently in choices for the flooring, stonework, trim work, paint, and custom kitchen.

Biddle Blinds worked alongside the client during multiple consults discussing design concepts and functionality. It was important that the window treatments brought color, softness, personality and easy functionality, as the lodge would eventually become a vacation rental.

The open concept main floor includes the entry, eat-in kitchen and living room. All the spaces feature trout pond views with wraparound porches, so sun/glare was not an issue.

Cordless natural shades without liners were placed in the entry and on each side of the custom stone fireplace. The Wild Haven Porch Swing natural fabric celebrated the landscape, complimented both the stonework and wood flooring, and the Roman shade folds created softness. Additionally, the natural fabric’s illuminated texture and sparkle appears as sunlight streams through.

Each side of the living room features large sliding glass doors which we adorned with vintage gold drapery rods, simple end-cap finials, and two-finger pleat draperies hung on matching gold rings. We chose the transitional drapery fabric Woodblock Sunset that has an organic print made up of creams, rusts, golds, reds and blues. These draperies bring out the personality, color, warmth and drama of the room, and the fabric choice became the jumping off point for choosing furniture.

In the kitchen, we inside mounted fabric wrapped cornices with a simple soft curve. These custom cornices were wrapped in the same fabric as the living room draperies and included a welted edge detail. These cornices added softness, color, and personality as well as a design tie-in to the living area.

For the upstairs bedrooms and bathrooms we installed cordless privacy lined natural shades in the same Wild Haven Porch Swing fabric so the lodge remained consistent throughout and provided privacy.
